Did you know that half a million animals suffer and die every year throughout Europe in tests where there are already valid humane alternatives?
Where alternatives to animal tests exist they should be used under EU law. But often this isn’t happening.
These cruel animal tests shouldn’t be allowed to continue - and we are determined to stop them.
So we have created the RAT (Replace Animal Tests) list. It highlights ten of the worst animal tests, which in our view are either redundant or have valid replacements.

And it will start to change the default view that using animals is the way to test new chemicals and drugs.
Our science team have already begun talking to EU regulators to ensure that these tests are removed, but to keep up the momentum we urgently need your help to consign them to the history books.
Your donation could help our campaigns and policy team travel to Brussels for face to face meetings with EU decision-makers, to convince them to take action and remove the ten RAT list animal tests. This could have a huge impact on the number of animals used in tests in Europe.
