Cruelty Free International campaigner wins award
Our Indian Campaign Manager recognised for tireless work for animals
We are delighted that our India Campaign Manager, Dr Shiranee Pereira Tettamanti has won an award for her ground breaking work in animal welfare.
Shiranee was awarded the Voice for the Voiceless award by the Governor of Tamil Nadu in South India. The award was given in recognition of her tireless work to help animals used in experiments over the last 20 years.
She has also been responsible for finding loving homes for hundreds of beagles from laboratories, and for the rehabilitation and care of horses and mules used in the production of anti-snake venom medicine since 2000.
Shiranee is pictured here with Misty, a mule who used for over 18 years in an anti-snake venom serum producing laboratory in India. She lost her vision due to the repeated doses of snake venom which was injected into her and the blood that was taken from her to produce the serum. Shiranee was able to rescue and look after Misty for three happy free years.
Congratulations on your award Shiranee!
