Every country, every company, every consumer - a global end to animal testing in cosmetics
As the UN Environment Assembly gathers for its 2019 meeting, we challenge world leaders to make cruelty free part of the global sustainability agenda

This week, we brought the voices of the 8.3 million people who supported our call with The Body Shop for a global end to cosmetics testing on animals to an event organised in partnership with the UN’s One Planet Network and the governments of Germany, Indonesia and Switzerland.
The United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 goals to tackle the biggest issues facing the planet, from ending poverty to protecting nature and our environment. SDG 12 calls for the ways we make and consume products to be more sustainable and responsible.
Every day we all make purchasing choices which, when added up, can have a real impact on persuading businesses to do the right thing. Consumers the world over have made it clear that they no longer want to see animals suffer for beauty and personal care products. By campaigning for legislative change and through our 1,200-company strong Leaping Bunny certification programme, Cruelty Free International is working to bring cosmetics animal testing to an end everywhere and forever.
Speaking at the event, our Director of Public Affairs, Kerry Postlewhite, challenged decision-makers and companies to listen to citizens and consumers. She said, “Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals means governments, businesses, campaigners and citizens working together and every single one of us feeling able to do our bit. Consumers are increasingly rejecting cruel cosmetics, and decision-makers and companies should respect that and draw a line under animal testing once and for all.”
You can play your part in making a difference for animals in laboratories by only buying cosmetics, personal care and household cleaning products from fully certified Leaping Bunny companies, either in stores or online. Always look out for the Leaping Bunny logo on products, packaging and company websites, or find your favourite cruelty free brand on our product search page.
