The Free Range Natural Deodorant is now Leaping Bunny Certified
The Free Range is the first New Zealand based company to be awarded the Leaping Bunny certification for its Natural Deodorant
The Free Range has joined the Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny certification!
The Free Range Company offers shoppers a certified organic, 100% natural deodorant that really works. As a company The Free Range is committed to sustainable and ethical production, and giving back in a way that makes a difference.
Upon being awarded certification, we enjoyed a brief interview with Amanda-Jane, Director at The Free Range.
Congratulations on being the first company awarded Leaping Bunny certification in New Zealand! Why is obtaining Leaping Bunny certification important to you?
Leaping Bunny certification is highly regarded because it helps us monitor our entire supply chain, not just the end manufacturer. We want Free Range customers to have assurance that neither we, nor anyone in our supply chain, test their products on animals. We are just thrilled to have achieved Leaping Bunny certification, and are very thankful for the integrity of our suppliers.
What can shoppers expect from your products?
Our customers are discerning, not just with personal health, but also around environmental and ethical issues. We want to delight our customers with truly natural products that really work, and with the assurance that what they are buying has ethical integrity.
What is the inspiration behind The Free Range?
Necessity! Eleven years ago, our family embarked on a journey towards a simpler more natural lifestyle, starting with food. I was the queen of fast food and had never grown a vegetable in my life, so we had a few rough years while I mastered the basics!
The next step was body care, because I just wasn’t comfortable that all the ‘natural’ products I was using were all they claimed to be. So I began making my own.
It wasn’t without its challenges, but a big part of the inspiration was the family, friends and willing human testers who kept asking for more! It was a natural step to make the same thing available to the market, and The Free Range was born!
What has been the most rewarding part of creating the Free Range brand?
Working with so many talented, committed people, and also our wonderful Free Range customers. The Free Range brand has come about from a combination of inspiration, feedback, experience and creativity of so many people, who all want natural, ethically made products that really work. And our customers have been so passionate about spreading the word that we have been quite blown away.
Can you tell us more about your background, and how this has impacted on The Free Range products?
I was a lawyer for a number of years before ‘retiring’ to start a family. Law taught me never to take anything at face value, and to always look for the evidence, which has certainly impacted the development of the Free Range brand and products. Having evidence to substantiate our claims is important to me.
What is your favourite animal and why?
The Free Range products are made in dedicated premises on a country farmlet in New Zealand. We are blessed to be surrounded by native trees and wildlife. My favourite animal is our regular visitor - the majestic Kereru, or New Zealand native wood pigeon. Its beautiful colours, natural confidence and fearless swoops are awe inspiring.
With over 600 companies now certified, Leaping Bunny is the only international guarantee against animal testing in a company’s own brand products.
